Fanny the Facebook Freak

Show Luo made big headlines this week with a magazine revealing photos of a topless Show talking to a girl from Hong Kong known as “Fanny” over webcam.  The background behind this is that Show got to know this girl earlier in the year through facebook.  After messaging for a month he gave her his MSN.  They chatted quite a lot on MSN and Show said that it was nice to have someone care about him when he got home from work.  He didn’t reveal to her who he was at first, but later trusted her enough to.  Fanny said she didn’t believe him and told him to turn on his webcam even though he said he wasn’t wearing a t-shirt.

I really wonder how much money she made from selling this story to the newspaper.  Apparently she had saved every conversation and sms sent between the two of them as well as saving images from their webcam sessions.

Show appeared on his show 100% entertainment on Wednesday and spent a good 10-15mins talking about the incident and how a lot of what was written was rubbish and even the photo of “Fanny”, whom he thought was “Tiffany”, was different from the one she had sent him.  He apologised on the show to his mama, agency and fans for being stupid and looked quite distressed about the whole thing but coping.

However Fanny is claiming a whole lot of different things.  On her blog she put up conversations sent between the two of them.  Don’t know if it’s real but it pretty much seems like Show is interested in some form of cyber sex with her.  In other reports he claims that she is the one that asked him and he refused.  Fanny says she has more photos of him – and not just half naked ones.  She also claims to have flown to Taiwan to meet him and see his house which he denied on his show saying that everyone could describe what his house looks like from the pictures he has up on his blog.  So the reason behind her putting the photos up and ‘evidence’ of their ‘relationship’ seems to be because she was upset that he had betrayed her by seeing other girls.  Apparently some other girl which she actually knew was boasting about how far she’d gone with Show (or something along those lines) and she felt hurt by this because, I guess, she thought they had something special.

I don’t think most of what Fanny claims is true.  According to Show, after finding out she was talking to him she became very interested in entering the entertainment circle and that’s when he cut ties off with her.  Also the photo the magazine published of her has her face blurred out but not her cleavage.  She just looks like she’s whoring herself out for fame.

xiao-zhuAnyway it’s a very messed up situation that he’s gotten himself into.  Whilst I understand that it must be hard for celebrities to make real new friends once they reach a certain level of fame, I still don’t understand why he tried to make a new friend over the internet.  I mean he has crazy people follow him home in their cars so it’s a bit  naive of him to not think that there are creepos out there in cyberspace!  A bit 活該 (asking for it) if you ask me.  But don’t worry Show, Xiao Gui and your millions of fans will be here to撐your腰 (literally – support your waist)

So lesson learnt from his mistake.  Facebook sucks and technology needs to take a step back from dehumanising human relationships to 2D images and text.signature
